While many trees cluster together and some are part of a large wood or huge forest, some trees simply like their own space.
When we see such a tree, we might wonder how it got there and why it is on its own.
These trees seem to hold their own in the landscape and often become landmarks for walkers, runners or cyclists.
These trees are also usually of a lovely shape for their species and are easy to identify.
We found this one close to Crossgates, near Scarborough. It was a lovely day when we took the photo too, as indicated by the blue skies behind it!
